BEST OF MADISON 2017 – BEST BLOG & WEBSITE!
Thank you to everyone who voted us Best of Madison. We’re honored to be listed among such great company in both categories! For those who don’t know us, we are Chad and Jodi Everts. Love, Madison Weddings launched on June 2, 2015 and has since become the most comprehensive wedding planning resource in the Madison area. Below are common FAQs about us or Love, Madison Weddings, and a contact form for you to reach us.
Looking for Featured Vendor Information? Head over to the Advertising page.
Q: What is Love, Madison Weddings?
A: Love, Madison Weddings is a local wedding blog. Local couples are encouraged to use our site to:
– Find local vendors and venues (we’ve listed them all!)
– Check out Real Wedding Galleries (for inspiration and help choosing vendors)
– Get planning information from local pros on our blog
Q: What is the benefit to engaged couples (vs. searching a national site like The Knot or Wedding Wire)?
A: Our site features vendors and venues who serve the Madison area. National sites sort vendors and venues into much larger geographic territories, often putting Madison and Milwaukee together, so couples still have a lot of work to determine what information is relevant to them. Couples now have a resource dedicated specifically to their local wedding planning needs.
Q: What does it mean to be a featured expert?
A: On the website, featured vendors move to the top of the general listings on their category pages and link to a dedicated profile page that includes a Q&A, gallery, testimonials and a contact form. Offline, we work to understand each featured vendor’s business goals and challenges, and work to create opportunities to implement strategy that achieve results. So our relationship, and the subsequent promotions and partnerships on our site, will be different for each vendor based on what their strategic plan looks like for the year. Q: What is your background in the wedding industry?
JODI: My background is actually in advertising. Over the past ten years I’ve worked in corporate marketing and ad agencies, serving on accounts with nearly nonexistent budgets to more than $4 million. It was my responsibility to plan and manage campaigns to ensure maximum ROI – and every day was different. Depending on the client/budget, I could be copywriting, managing social media accounts, working with the design team on brand collateral, coordinating photo shoots and handling anything that came up in the eleventh hour.
I loved working in advertising but needed more work/life balance after our daughter was born. Since I had organized many corporate events in the past, I pursued event planning long enough to recognize that’s not where my passion lies. But through that experience we uncovered the opportunity for a site like ours so it was incredibly worthwhile… when I found myself strategic planning when I should have been sleeping, I knew Chad and I needed to pursue Love, Madison Weddings.
CHAD: Chad’s background is in management. He started in parts sales at a Milwaukee car dealership and later transferred to its new Madison location to manage the parts department. His technical mindset and ability to lead teams lends itself to Love, Madison Weddings in the areas of IT and accounting.
Additionally, while living in Milwaukee he spent his weekends working alongside his uncle, a local DJ. He shared his fun personality and incredible laugh with newlyweds and their guests, keeping their days running smoothly and everyone on their feet until the end of the final song. Attending so many weddings as a DJ piqued his interest in the industry then, and now that experience has come around full-circle to provide insight for Love, Madison Weddings.
Q: Where did you meet?
A: In high school, but we didn’t start dating until years later. The short story goes like this: After being friends for 4 years, fate sat us just rows apart at the Marcus Amphitheater. I was a senior and Chad had graduated two years earlier so we hadn’t really seen each other much. We dated for four years and broke up just before I graduated college. We spent five years trying to move on but neither of us did. Despite living and working blocks from each other on more than one occasion, we ran into each other only once or twice. At the end of those five years I took a trip that changed my life – and made me realize I was a complete fool. I called Chad out of the blue to ask if we could be friends and thankfully he said yes. Five months later we were engaged! We will celebrate our fifth anniversary this year and are proud parents to the sweetest little girl ever!
Q: What do we like to do when we’re not working on Love, Madison Weddings.
Working on Love, Madison Weddings doesn’t feel like a job. We are so excited to keep improving upon what we’ve built and are always talking about or working on LMW in some way. But we’re multi-taskers so we like to work playing in the park or having dance parties in our living room with our daughter. We also love to check out new breweries. Chad is always on the hunt for a new favorite IPA and I’m a Weiss fan. We recently stopped in to Karben4 for brunch and our daughter was intrigued with what was going on in the brewery. She was standing by the glass door looking in and one of the workers kept splashing the door with water. She could not stop giggling. A laid-back environment with good food and beer – that’s where you can typically find us!
Q: What’s next for Love, Madison Weddings?
The reality is that lovemadisonweddings.com will never be “done.” We are constantly identifying ways to update and expand based on feedback from local couples and featured vendors, changes in website design and best practices, and wedding trends. In the short term, we’ll be adding a few new sections and over the next year we’ll be developing some exciting partnerships and working on some of the backend logistics to increase site speed and performance.
We’d love to learn more about you! Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions or to set up a time to chat!
