Bride blogger Karla and her fiance Matthew will be hosting a Gatsby-inspired wedding at the Al Ringling Museum so it’s only fitting their engagement session is the same!
How We Met
We met at a bar in the small town of Marshfield. Our first date was at a bowling alley, the second date was at the local Brew Pub, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Our Proposal Story
Matthew planned for months to propose to me on my birthday trip to NYC. He recruited the help of my two best friends, Shelly and Brittany, to arrange to have them secretly join on the trip, help him and plan the perfect proposal.
The day of the proposal (and my birthday) started with being surprised by my two best friends, followed by a tour of the Empire State building. It was then time for a lunch cruise around the Statue of Liberty. After a few photo opps and back down on the lower deck of the ship, the DJ was setting up and getting dancers out on the floor. The DJ saw Matthew standing and called him out to the dance floor. He escorted me out for a dance, and after a few turns in the middle of the song, he spun me one direction, and as he spun the other direction, he dropped down on one knee, ring box open, and a nervous smirk on his face. He didn’t have to say a word, but asked as he stood up, and of course, I said yes! Brittany and Shelly were there to capture the perfect moment!
What Makes Us a Perfect Match
I would say we’re a perfect match because we have a lot of common interests and ambitions We appreciate opportunities to work together as a team and push each other in our personal goals. We tag team caring for our 3 pets, projects around the house and in the kitchen, and both enjoy singing, dancing, theater, and comedy.
What Is the Best Part About Wedding Planning?
We’re enjoying the process of wedding planning and making our day personal/putting the focus on everyone having a good time. We are going with a 1920s inspired theme in a vintage mansion, and have put some more personal twists on it to suit our taste. We are always finding details to make the experience memorable in the most important ways for ourselves and our guests while also being practical in our priorities on our special day.
