There is something so special about Wisconsin in late winter. The ice still graces the lakes but the sun starts to share it’s warmth. It’s a special season as everyone collectively gets excited for spring. When we saw Brian and Kari’s engagement session at Devil’s Lake we loved that they embraced this season for their images with Melissa Grace Photography.
From The Photographer:
“We started our session at Devils Lake State Park in Baraboo, WI. It was chilly but Kari wasn’t cold one bit! The sun was warm, but the ice still graced the lake. We did a few running snapshots to stay warm and danced in the woods too! When Kari mentioned that green was her favorite color, I knew that we had to go to the circus on Water Street in Baraboo. Those bright doors are the perfect color backdrop for any session. The sun was doing its afternoon winter thing, and we set out for Lower Oschner’s Park bridge for some yummy light. All in all Baraboo, WI is my favorite location to shoot engagements.
You know when I started this gig, people kept saying you will attract clients that are like you. Well Brian and Kari definitely are like me! I love them! I love all my clients but these two met in band in high school just like my hubby and I. How funny is that?
AND the way he asked Kari to marry him gets me every time I think of it. From Kari, “We went to a movie at the Marcus Point Theatre to see The Greatest Showman and afterwards he wanted to show me a billboard he put up for work (He works for Adams Advertising). So he drove us down Odana Road and said that I had to close my eyes because he had to turn the car around. Well he parked the car in a small parking lot near the board and came around to open my door, making sure that I still had my eyes closed. He helped me out of his car and said “Okay, open your eyes”. When I did, he was kneeling in front of me with the ring. But on the giant billboard behind him, it said “Kari, will you marry me?” And he was so choked up with words that he couldn’t say anything and neither could I so I just nodded and he put the ring on my finger.”
Collective WOW and awe!
They both describe one another as hard working and perfect for the other. They were so wonderful to meet and work with that I cannot wait for the Devil’s Head wedding this fall.”
