What inspired your business name?
I am partnered with Realty Executives Cooper Spransy, a local, family-owned real estate brokerage firm. It is a truly fantastic company, with supportive and knowledgeable agents. But I wanted my business to stand out from the main brand so I created Kohl Realty (it’s not very clever, just my last name) and developed my own style and approach so that I could be a unique presence in a saturated industry and offer an elevated level of service for my clients.
How long have you been in business?
About 3 years.
Why did you choose to pursue your current profession?
This is technically my second career. I worked for nearly 10 years for a large company as a district manager and although I loved my team, it really wasn’t for me and I was a bit miserable. I was in a sort of customer service position basically all my working years and enjoyed that part of it so wanted to find something where I could help people. I’m so grateful that I took a chance on myself to pursue this dream. I love that I don’t need to “sell” anyone anything… you’ve already decided that you want to buy or sell a home when you come to me, I don’t have to convince you of that, I’m just here to help you do it. And I truly love what I do.
What sets your business apart?
I try very hard to really get to know every one of my clients along with their wants, needs, goals, and dreams. I offer my support, respect, and honesty. I am personally with every client through the entire journey and do my best to have a good attitude and be a positive force throughout every home buying adventure.
Describe your ideal client(s)
Communication is very important. Feedback about houses helps me to learn a client’s preferences and better narrow down the search. Also, in this market, things can happen very quickly. There are many time sensitive pieces once an offer is on the table so being able to get a hold of my clients is crucial.
What is your most frequently asked question from potential clients?
How much do your services cost?
And the answer is: Nothing! Commission to the buyer’s agent is typically paid by the seller. Which means that it is FREE to the buyer! So there’s no reason not to have someone working on your behalf.
What’s on your iPod, Pandora, etc. while you work?
I like to listen to podcasts! Radiolab is my favorite.
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
We have a 1964 tradewins continental pop-up camper from my husband’s great grandparents. We are working on restoring it and we love to take it on camping trips with the kids. I also like biking, hiking, and jogging. I’m also a total foodie and a bit of a wine snob so cooking and relaxing with a glass of wine on my porch is definitely a favorite pastime.
Who inspires you?
My children inspire me! Sounds corny but so true. They remind me to stop and smell the roses, literally and figuratively.
Do you have a quote you live by?
Follow your heart but take your brain with you.
Is there anything else you’d like to add? :
I am always happy to sit down and talk about the home buying or home selling process with people. If you have questions or are curious about it, just let me know!
