From The Photographer:
“When Shawna first contacted me about her wedding day, I knew this was going to be a treat. Shawna and Chris love Devils Lake State Park and hiking, but they live in Kenosha! She informed me that they spend a lot of time in the Baraboo hills hiking when they get the chance.
Chris proposed to Shawna while hiking the West Bluff Trail. Shawna & Chris are the type of people you meet & feel like you’ve known for forever. Just to elaborate on this, they invited me to just hang out and meet everyone the Friday before the wedding ceremony. I went to the cabin rental at Rivers Edge Resort, and had the best time just getting to know them, eating ribs, and sitting by the campfire.
Now let’s move onto how they met! This is wild and has to do with a very special little boy. Chris’ nephew was attending the daycare that Shawna runs. Well since Chris was on pick up duty that day, he gathered his nephew and met the love of his life! That little boy is now so proud of his uncle and new aunt and even stood up in ceremony with Shawna’s daughter.
It was a very small affair with lawn chairs by the side of the bubbling creek at Parfrey’s Glen. I made her a bouquet from my yard for our devils lake bridal shoot. She had made a small one for the ceremony and was thrilled to get more flowers! She went up the east bluff trail from the north end in flip flops people, flip flops!
Then they braved the cold water on the south shore. I know my clients trust me and I’m sorry for freezing them sometimes! Anything for the shot right? In writing this post I had since learned that they purchased the wedding rings on Etsy (always a good choice), but that Chris had a little surprise. Later he surprised her with her own Grandmother’s ring! Man I love a good love story.
These two are carefree, adventurous, and know what is important in life. This is exactly why I offer hourly small wedding photography. THIS!
