Kangaroos, I Do’s & a 29 person bridal party… that pretty much sums it up! Erin and David got married at Emily’s Ten Oak Ranch and their gallery is overflowing with fun and romance!
From the Bride: Our Love Story
Our story actually began back in 2008. I was regularly playing rec soccer at Breakaway Sports in Fitchburg, when one of the refs who worked there (friend of the groom) asked my roommate and I to play on a co-ed team… which is how I met David. We had many years of friendship from that day on, but always seemed to be in relationships at different times. Finally, after both being single for awhile, David very SLOWLY worked his magic – and the rest is history! We are still playing soccer together 10 years later.
I was never one of those girls who grew up dreaming about my wedding day. I have worked in event management since college, so to me, this was kind of just like managing another project at work. The minute we visited our event venue, we both got excited about its uniqueness and we immediately felt comfortable with Megan (venue coordinator). The venue and Megan changed my business-like approach to wedding planning and allowed me to have more fun with the entire process. How can you not have fun when there are kangaroos at your venue?! Yes – KANGAROOS! I also very much enjoyed getting to DIY a lot of my own items (invites, decor, etc.) using my graphic design skills and Cricut machine.
We may have had one of the largest wedding parties – 29 people (11 attendants on each side, 2 ushers, 2 ring bearers and a junior bridesmaid). Our “fall” wedding ended up being 85 degrees, but guests stayed well-hydrated with their souvenirs – a mason jar with a chalkboard cutout of Wisconsin on it (handmade by bride and groom). Guests were able to walk the property throughout the day to visit the kangaroos, horses, goats, chickens and buffalo. Many of the planters seen were transported from my mother’s garden, which she started planting specifically for us. All of the barn windows used for decor were from the barn on the property I spent my whole life on. My sister got poster board “big heads” of us, which the wedding party used for their grand entrance and had a lot of fun with at the reception.
