From the bride: Our Madison outdoor summer wedding was a combination of summery neutrals, simplicity and all of the greatest people we know. It was our goal to have our day impact greater causes and to center it around the incredible people in our lives. This meant looking for vendors whose businesses would serve a greater population than just our guests. This also meant having our very favorite people make up a big, big-hearted wedding party. Most importantly, it meant finding ways to keep costs low so that we didn’t have to make any cuts to our guest list! We really believe that it was the people, not the “pretty things”, that made our day so beautiful and memorable.
After a historical fashion show of my family’s old wedding gowns (I even tried on my great great grandmother’s cotton wedding dress from 1906!) I fell in love and decided to wear my grandmother’s champagne gown. Monica of Monirose Bespoke Gowns made my dream come true when she combined the gown with lace my mom wore on her arms the day she married my dad. The final piece to my bridal look was my veil, handmade by my other grandmother so that each of the most important women in my life were represented. Being that it was a cathedral length veil, I also had a flower crown for the reception.
Our ceremony was at Blackhawk Church in Middleton. The ceremony was centered around Christ’s example as a servant in relationship with His people – one that we hope to witness through our marriage. Zack and I did not have a first look, so there were tears as I walked down the aisle – but none as sweet as my dad’s as he gave me away! At our reception, we kept our table settings simple, but delicate and beautiful. For dinner, we chose three food trucks to serve our guests fresh and delicious meals AND late night cheese curds. We strung lights over the open terrace where our guests enjoyed a slideshow put together by our brother and then danced the night away to our (again) simple but perfect spotify playlist. We owe our day to the collaboration of MANY helping hands, incredible day-of coordinators, our amazing vendors, and of course all of the people we love who made our covenant day a truly joyful celebration!
